RTVE and its network of University Chairs have presented the eighth edition of the Impulsa Visión RTVE grants, aimed at supporting official Master’s research projects (TFM) that explore the impact and applications of artificial intelligence in journalism and the media.
The event, held at the headquarters of the Royal Academy of Engineering in Madrid, brought together representatives from the RTVE Chair Network, including Professor and researcher Tania Fernández Lombao, member of the RTVE–University of Santiago de Compostela Chair. The session also paid tribute to Professor José Manuel Menéndez, Director of the RTVE–UPM Chair, who passed away in September.
Each of the three Impulsa Visión grants carries a total award of 12,000 euros per selected project, distributed as 8,000 euros for the awarded student and 4,000 euros for the corresponding university department, school, or faculty. The application period runs from October 20 to December 16, 2025, inclusive.
The research projects must address topics such as the transformation of professional roles in journalism, the creation of information and content using AI, technical and ethical aspects, verification processes, and the fight against disinformation. With this call, RTVE reinforces its commitment to innovation in the audiovisual sector and strengthens its connection with the academic world, opening new research opportunities for Master’s students in the fields of media, communication, and technology.
The event emphasized innovation and collaboration between RTVE and the university sector, highlighting the role of the RTVE Chairs — such as the one at the University of Santiago de Compostela, focused on public service media — as key spaces for research and knowledge transfer on the future of public media, digital transformation, and the impact of artificial intelligence on the audiovisual ecosystem.
